We care for you and your pet and understand the human-animal bond is something you can’t always explain. When that time comes, we are here for you. If you need someone to talk to in order decide on this decision, we are always here to talk. If you want another exam done, even if it was just last week you were in with your sweet companion, we completely understand and will make that happen. This is the most difficult decision you have to make and we respect that and understand. We want you to be at peace with your decision and can help guide you if needed.
 

At Williamsburg Animal Hospital, we offer several options when it comes to where you would like the procedure to be performed. We have a comfort room to help provide a calming atmosphere during this time. Our other options are an outdoor exam room or even in the comfort of your car (depending on safety of our staff). Home euthanasia can be provided depending on scheduling and location and we will do our best to accommodate.

The procedure itself it peaceful and painless. They will receive a sedation first and this medication will allow them to relax and go into a deep sleep. This takes a few minutes and you will have some time alone with your companion. The next step is an overdose of an anesthetic that goes into their vein, stopping their brain then heart. This only takes about 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
 

This time of life is so difficult, but also very special. We have an amazing gift to provide our pets, the gift to end suffering.
